Will Muir spoke at TEDxBarcelonaWomen on 5th December 2013. The theme of the event was “Get men involved in gender equity!”
Will spoke about how gender equity is impossible to achieve without including men in the debate and how ECF has been collaborating with men and boys in Pune to change their perceptions towards women.
ECF’s first mentor-led research report is now online. “I want to stop the injustice and outrage faced by women”,explores the question – ‘What motivates men to volunteer for a community gender violence prevention programme?’
Understanding these reasons will help with plans to expand efforts to reach out to men and will ensure that programmes remain relevant and engaging for those who participate in them.
This research project has been implemented and designed by ECF Programme Mentors with the support of key team members.
As part of the 16 Days Against Gender Violence Campaign from 25th November to 10th December 2013, ECF is excited to launch:
– Stories of young men demonstrating behavioural change from among 20 communities in Pune.
– Release of ECF’s first Mentor Research Report.
– Release of the video ‘Hear it from the mentor’.
– Action events in the community
Throughout the 16 days our team will continue to share lessons learnt, news from the communities that we work in and more encouraging news from our grass roots programme.
