The 2nd MenEngage Global Symposium is poised to take off on 10th November 2014 at Delhi and ECF is participating in it! This 2nd MenEngage Global Symposium revolves around Men and Boys for Gender Justice with the purpose of finding ways to engage men and boys for gender equality, so that society becomes more caring and non-violent and gender relations become more harmonious. It is scheduled to be held in New Delhi, India from 10-14 November.

ECF is here to share the experiences and learnings of the past 5 years of consolidated work among 20 communities in the city of Pune, with the slogan ‘young boys and men are part of the solution to end violence and discrimination against women’. ECF works to challenge the prevalent paradigms of inequality and injustice that seem to escape the cognitive processes of our society.

Poised at a significant curve of this globally shifting paradigm, ECF has made inroads into low-income urban communities in Pune, drawing deep insights and references that serve to pave the way for the next stage of this approach. With the knowledge gleaned from 5 years of Research and Development, Curriculum Development, Monitoring and Evaluation and Implementation of the Action for Equality Programme (AfE), Equal Community Foundation is set to play the leader in this approach.

The main focus areas for the coming year are collaboration and building bridges through new partnerships, to share the work we have done so far and find avenues to curate the learnings into related fields of work. With this vision firmly beckoning us, we believe that the next 5 years will unfold a different part of this challenging journey to end violence and discrimination against women in India.
